FourSure 44 longevity – Tested for life !
We continuously test our products in relation to applicable European standards, e.g. EN and ANSI-BIFMA. These standards specify test methods for determining the strength and longevity of the design regardless of use, materials, or design/construction. We do this to ensure that our customers receive high quality furniture that they can enjoy for many years.
Achieving these test standards is demanding, partly because the products are subjected to physical stresses that simulate what the furniture could be exposed to over a 10-year period.
We believe in our products!
We believe so strongly in our products that we have taken our FourSure chair and exposed it to a series of tests that simulates the same loads the chair would be exposed to over 50 years!
Over 1.5 years we have exposed the chair to loads that meet EN 16139 level 2 … five times over!
We set up the chair in our test lab and subjected it to all the relevant tests in order to prove our claim that it could last a minimum of 50 years.
That’s what we call “Tested for Life!”
Seat and back load longevity test

This is how many times our test machine has simulated someone sitting themselves down in our chair, leaning back into the backrest, and then getting up from the chair again.
Our test equipment is set to the same load as if the person sitting in the chair weighed 110 kg. The load simulates a person’s movements when sitting on the chair and then standing up again. This tests the construction of the chair frame, seat, and back. After our 50-year test, the chair’s structure remained unchanged, and the comfort of the back support also remained the same.
500,000 times! From side to side
You sit on the chair, but you don’t sit still. You lean forward a little. Move slightly from side to side.
The chair picks up your movements, ensuring it takes up the load in its construction to keep you sitting comfortably, even if you are not aware of it.
This load is also part of our test. We test the chair with a load of 80 kg moving from side to side to simulate a person changing position in the chair. This places a particular load on the frame along with a risk of breakage as it is exposed to an uneven load. No problems for our hero.

You’re engrossed!
And you do something you probably shouldn’t. You tilt the chair. Forwards, backwards and to both sides. As you tilt, the legs on the opposite side lift off the ground until you simply let the chair tilt back down in free fall. Imagine you do this 10,000 times in each direction.
Your movements form the basis for a specific test, where this movement is simulated with a load of 85 kg moving forwards and backwards, and 45.5 kg from side to side. To achieve German GS certification, the chair must pass the test proving its strength.
Can it really stand up to it?
People are different, and our chairs are positioned in the centre of your living spaces. To ensure the chair can withstand a hard and active everyday life, we test the strength of all our chairs. A specific test focuses on the strength of the backrest, ensuring correct construction by subjecting it to a heavy load on the back of the chair. This is your assurance that the chair is safe, even when it bears the heavy loads of everyday life
