The issue of furniture waste has reached alarming proportions.
Every year, countless desks, chairs, and tables end up in landfills, contributing to depletion of valuable resources and environmental degradation.
The linear “take-make-dispose” model has resulted in a cycle of waste, with perfectly good furniture being disposed of prematurely.
As a manufacturer of new furniture, we know we are part of the problem and understand our responsibility to provide an alternative.
Our Take Back scheme allows us to work with our customers to responsibly remove their existing furniture, avoiding creating more waste in landfill when refitting your space.
Items will be removed from your site and handled appropriately. Transport is organised to waste management partners, who handle the appropriate recycling of individual parts.
Resell your furniture to a network of buyers. You will then receive a rebate for the items sold, offsetting your project costs.
Our Take Back Scheme is a service that facilitates the responsible disposal and reuse of furniture, regardless of whether it was originally purchased from us. We offer various routes to ensure that furniture is either recycled, refurbished, rebated or redistributed to those in need.
By participating, you help reduce furniture waste, lower your environmental impact, and support social causes. You also have the opportunity to recoup some costs through our rebate program or help extend the lifecycle of your furniture through reworking.
We accept a wide range of office furniture, including desks, chairs, tables, and more, as long as they are in good working condition. We also manage the recycling of items that are beyond repair.
Once you decide to use our service, we will conduct an asset survey of your furniture. Based on the condition and type, we will discuss the best route for disposal. We handle all logistics, including transport.
The cost of our service is comparable to traditional removal and disposal services. Depending on the route chosen (Rebate, Rework, Recycle or Redistribute), costs may vary. For example, redistribution is often at no cost to the recipients, while reworking may involve lower transportation fees.
We provide a report detailing the waste, financial, and carbon savings achieved through your participation in our scheme. This report highlights the positive contributions you’ve made to reducing waste and supporting social causes.
Furniture collected through our scheme is either recycled, resold, refurbished, or donated. Our goal is to keep as much furniture as possible out of landfills and ensure it is used in a way that benefits both the environment and the community.
Over 1,300 schools and charities can source furniture through our ‘Social Showroom.’ This initiative helps organizations that often lack the budget to purchase new furniture, providing them with quality pieces at no cost.
To get started, fill out our contact form below and our team will reach out to discuss your needs and explain the next steps.
There are many varying factors that can affect the price of the take back service, which make it difficult to have a set price per product type. These include:
– Amount of furniture
– Type of furniture
– Condition of furniture
– Need to dismantle furniture
– Building access
– Accessibility of goods lifts
– Location
– In/Out hours
We understand it makes things slightly more complex, but if our Take Back partner is able to conduct a site survey then they can give an accurate quotation. This is why we need a fair bit of time before the furniture is needing to be removed, to ensure time for a site survey and for routes of donation to be identified.
No minimum amount of furniture. Though for smaller amounts we will offer two prices – a fixed date price, and a flexible date price. The flexibility allows us to coordinate with other pickups in the area to keep down costs and environmental impact.
For small projects (roughly under 15 items and simple logistics), we need up to 5 days’ notice.
For larger projects, we ask for at least 2 weeks’ notice to be able to mobilise the correct teams. Ideally, we will complete a site or asset survey which takes a bit of time to set up. We can work around your priorities in terms of sustainability needs, costs and deadlines.
Small projects – quote within 2-3 working days.
Large projects – site survey date to be confirmed within 3-5 working days on the condition all necessary questions have been answered and we can get in touch with relevant person.
Quote to be completed upon completion of survey.
For logistical matters, we will give you contact with our Take Back partner. Regarding finances and reporting, we will keep this chain through us.
Our Take Back Scheme is part of our pledge to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Find out more about our Sustainability Commitment here.
