With the requirements of the standard, we are obliged to think of the whole life cycle of every product we produce. We are motivated to address risks and opportunities for improvements, and we are determined to act on these.

We strive, with our focus on the environment, not only to meet the legislation but to make an effort of being at the forefront when it comes to environmental thinking and sustainability. Every year, we evaluate our Environment policy and set new objectives for improvements on the environment and sustainability.

FISP is an independently certified sustainability programme designed to integrate and evaluate the three pillars of sustainability within organisations. The certification comprises three sections: legal compliance, environmental management and sustainability, as well as social responsibility. Every two years, the company undergoes an audit to assess compliance with the FISP scheme and to showcase improvements made since the last audit. The audit report serves as a guideline for directing improvement efforts.

In 2018, our score was 76%. However, in 2020, following the adoption of our new sustainability strategy and the implementation of corresponding actions, our score rose to 88%. This significant increase in score underlines the effectiveness of our efforts, and we aspire to continually enhance our performance year after year.

In the global campaign against deforestation, FSC® has devised ten principles focusing on legal adherence, labour standards, indigenous rights, community engagement, environmental benefits, planning and monitoring, and conservation initiatives. As a furniture manufacturer, we grasp the significance of sustainable forestry. All timber utilised in our products adheres to the UK and EU Timber Regulations, guaranteeing zero involvement in illegal logging activities. However, we aspire to go beyond mere compliance. That's why we've secured FSC® certification, ensuring our contribution to global sustainable forest management and actively participating in biodiversity replenishment programs.

The aim of the EU Ecolabel, serving as the official European eco-certification, is to diminish the collective environmental footprint stemming from the manufacturing and use of goods. It scrutinises the complete lifecycle of products, addressing environmental concerns at every stage, all to promote the well-being of individuals, safeguard the environment, and preserve the Earth's resources.

So far, the following products at Ocee & Four Design are EU Ecolabel-certified: all products in the FourSure® and FourCast® series, only in the colours “Anthracite” and “Ebony Black”, as well as Share Basic (versions without upholstery) and FourPeople standalone / modules.
